H: Mattes Ulrich was a borgare (burgher) and possibly a handelsman
(tradesman) in Norrköping, Östergötland (E). There is some uncertainty
regarding the identities of Elsa Ulrich’s parents, but it has been suggested that
her father was Mattes Ulrich, due to the last name, residence, and perhaps
profession (S: Olof Cronberg, 2004). The information about their names, their
dates of death and burial, and Mattes Ulrich being a borgare, comes from
Olof Cronberg based on his examination of church records (2004). The
identity of Mattes Ulrich’s father is uncertain, but it has been suggested that
his father probably was Berendt Ulrich, a handelsman in Norrköping, based
on the last name, residence and profession (S: Olof Cronberg, 2004).
